So, our journey started at 230 pm on Thursday. NOT A GOOD TIME TO LEAVE! Weather was fine, sunny and hot. We loaded up the car and started on our way. As we got onto 294 the sky turned dark. Wind started blowing and rain came pouring down. I could barely see out of my windows.
I made the mistake of having the radio on at the time. They were naming all the towns that should take cover due to the tornado warnings. I could tell in her voice that Danielle was getting scared! Of course the radio announcer says "For all of you in Franklin Park take cover" just as i was stuck on the expressway next to the FRANKLIN PARK WATER TOWER! Just my luck! What should have taken maybe and hour, took us 3.5 hours!!! We sat under the damn viaduct for an hour! The cars in front of us just felt like stopping so no one else could pass. So, finally we are moving. We get off the expressway and head to North Ave. OF COURSE all of the traffic lights are not working. SO again what should have been a half hour was now 1.5 hours!
We finally make it to the hotel. I guess they just let all the guests go back to their rooms after EVACUATING the hotel!!!
So, me and the girls go to our room and just crash! We just plopped ourselves into the couch and ordered room service! Hannah ate and napped a little.
Danny was on his way to us. Took him 3 hrs also to get there. We walked around, saw the pools, played in the arcade and amused ourselves until Danny finally made it! Once Danny arrived we ordered us some room service for dinner and Danielle and I snuck into the "CLOSED" pool to swim in the rain.
That lasted about 1/2 hr until security kicked us out! That's ok, Danny and Danielle were up at 6am swimming! We ate breakfast, swam some more and packed our bags. Danny and Hannah left at 1130 and Danielle and I started our first class.
It was a nice class. We made a photo album frame and a book. We had a 2hr class starting at 2pm. I knew Danielle was exhausted so we had lunch, picked up our class kit to finish at home and hit the road. All of North Avenue's lights were still out and there were a few accidents, a couple of trains and some construction so it took us 2.5 hours to get home!!!
The "girls" on our block missed Danielle and she was greeted like she had been gone for a month.
I unpacked my car and took a little nap. Watched the boys play with the fallen trees and started buugging Daniel (More about him in my next post). You see, it was Todd and Ellyne's wedding anniversary and they were going to McKellin's. I didn't feel good and soooooo wanted to just chill on my porch with my cronies. So, i talked Daniel into coming the bar with me. Well, Daniel doesn't drink so it was a perfect reason why i wouldn't have to stay long. I had a few beers and we headed home. We sat on the porch being goofy until about 1230am. So, that was the extent of my weekend!
Other than all that, the girls are great! Danny is great! All is well here! Off to bed now!!
Later fools!!
